When the 24 year-old midfielder attacking midfielder Ahmed Yasin joined AGF earlier this summer, he was met with great expectations by the local media in Aarhus (the second-largest city in Denmark), who introduced him as “The Iraqi Ronaldo”. However, so far neither the journalists nor the Superliga fans in Denmark have had much chance to see him play – much to the disappointment, bewilderment and frustration of his +113,000 fans on facebook.
Though, today may be the day when we finally get to see Ahmed Yasin in AGF’s start-11, as AGF will be taking on the ten-times Danish champions FC Copenhagen in the national arena Parken.
First goal against AaB last week
Last week, head coach Morten Wieghorst put Ahmed Yasin on the pitch with 19 minutes to go. AGF was down 1-3 against the 2014 Danish champions AaB. Shortly after, Yasin scored his first goal. Unfortunately, AGF lost the game, but Yasin was obviously happy and relieved to have been able to prove his worth. This week, several players suffer from injuries, which means Morten Wieghorst may give the chance to other players in the start-11 today. Yasin would be the obvious first choice.
Århus Stiftstidende, which is the local media who follows AGF most intensely – and is therefore considered well-informed – expect the following 11 players (including Ahmed Yasin) to be starting for AGF against FCK in Parken at 18:00 (Danish time) today (4-2-3-1):
Steffen Rasmussen – Dino Mikanovic, Josip Elez, “Piscu”, Daniel Christensen – Danny Olsen, Jens Jønsson – Ahmed Yasin, Kim Aabech, Elmar Bjarnasson – Mate Vatsadze.
